One of my favorite mommy bloggers, Joanna, from A Cup Of Jo wrote a post recently about maintaining female friendships and it made me realize I’ve been negligent in that department. I’ve always thought nothing can sever my female friendships because we’ve taken the time to build an unyielding bond. In many ways, that still rings true. We just need to carve out time in our busy schedules to see one another.
I can’t remember the last time I met up with my girlfriends for dinner or a drink. In lieu of formal activities, it might be best to schedule more casual get-togethers from now on. Informal meet-ups are actually a lot of fun. Nothing builds more intimacy between friends like shopping for groceries or getting a mani-pedi. Since most of my friends have settled down, it can be challenging for them to get dolled-up for a night out on the town. Especially, since all of their children are under the age of five. Family comes first, as it should.
When it comes to friendships Socrates once said be a good one, and you’ll get good ones. Like love, friendships are just people looking in the same direction.
