Charles Dickens is one of the very few English writers to have convincingly written
about Christmas. Consequently, his most popular Christmas story, “A Christmas
Carol,” evokes feelings of charity and goodwill for most around the holidays.
From all of
the characters in the novel, I relate the most to the Cratchit family. There is
something so genuine about their humble Christmas spirits. There’s no hypocrisy
or yearning for the superficiality. All they desire are the bare necessities of
life that we continuously take for granted, food, clothing, shelter and of course
healthcare for Tiny Tim. With that said, I’ll leave you with this Dickens
Quote:
Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our
childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can
transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own
fireside and his quiet home!
