No doubt most fashionistas are waiting with bated breath for a forthcoming “Sex and the City” movie. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but fans will have to continue to get their Carrie Bradshaw fix from HBO reruns. Sarah Jessica Parker recently confirmed to Elle magazine she is finished playing her manolo-wearing, midriff-baring alter ego.
“I don’t love the idea of playing another woman who loves fashion and is slightly flawed in New York City. I loved Carrie, and I don’t want to do the poor man’s version of her,” SJP told the publication, “And while those are often the lucrative things to do, it’s more reason to look in the other direction.”
At least we have “The Carrie Diaries” to look forward to, starring AnnaSophia Robb. The series will begin airing on the CW, January 2013 and will recount the story of a 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw, circa 1984.
Take a look at the show’s summary below
It’s 1984 and a pre-Manolos and Mr. Big Carrie Bradshaw (“Sex and the City”) is just a Connecticut teenager with a rebellious kid sister and a harried father, struggling to deal with her mother’s death. Languishing in suburban life, Carrie jumps at an opportunity to intern at a Manhattan law firm, where the glamour and the grit of the big city make her feel alive. When Carrie meets Larissa, a style editor at Interview magazine who introduces her to a world of nightclubs and interesting people, she feels inspired and realizes there is no going back; she was meant for New York.
