As a child, I had the entire Martine book series (originally written in French). They were a collection of books about a clever little girl who embarks on many adventures with her friends in her hometown. Each Christmas, like clockwork, I would choose one book from the series and read it until I fell asleep. I upheld this little Christmas tradition for at least a decade.
Recently, I found the collection of Martine books on Amazon and I was just overwhelmed with nostalgia. I plan to purchase as many of them as I can. I don’t currently have children but it would be wonderful to pass them down to my future daughter. Do you have any special Christmas traditions? I’d love to hear about them.
The Martine book series was written by Gilbert Delahaye and illustrated by Marcel Marlier. When Delahaye died in the late 90s, Jean-Louis Marlier, Marcel Marlier’s son, continued to write the stories. The last book from the series, Martine et le prince mystérieux, was published in 2010, one year before Illustrator Marcel Marlier passed away.
