Past relationships and injustices can settle on every aspect of your life like a wave of volcanic ash. However, this little trick has always helped me uproot painful memories and feel less pain. I hope it will help guide you toward a brighter, more promising future.
In the past, I would feel an intense urge to seek revenge when someone wronged me. I don’t want to be that person anymore. Trying to right old wrongs can be satisfying in the moment, but its hardly conducive to moving forward and can sometimes pull you into a deeper sort of emotional quicksand.
So my trick for letting go of painful memories is to write them down on a piece of paper, light a match and set them on fire. There’s just something so freeing about watching those heavy burdens literally go up in smoke.
What are your tips for dealing with painful moments? I’d love to hear about them.
