How to Get Glowing Skin (6 Effective Tips)

March 25, 2019 by admin Leave a Comment

How to achieve glowing skin.

Your fingers are probably worn to the nubs from typing endless beauty-related questions in your Google search bar. If your latest search is “how to get glowing skin,” you should know upfront there is no magic formula to achieve that enviable J-Lo glow. However, glowing skin can be attained through perseverance and a fixed skincare regimen.

Avoid marathon hot showers

When you take long hot showers, you are essentially depleting your skin of its natural oils, which can result in irritation and even inflammation of your epidermis. Dermatologists recommend taking a shower for approximately 15 minutes per day to preserve your skin’s natural flora. If you’re prone to dry skin, taking a five-minute shower is sufficient to maintain your skin’s delicate pH balance.

Treat yourself to an at-home spa day

Turn your bathroom into a spa by dimming the lights and lighting a few of your favorite candles. You’ll be surprised how quickly your worries and grime will torpedo down the drain. You really want to pamper yourself, so forego the traditional bar soap and opt for an indulgent body wash. I’m especially fond of the aromatherapy line from Bath & Body Works. Products formulated with exfoliating and hydrating agents are especially beneficial for troubled skin.

Glowing Skin Begins with an Exfoliation Routine

If exfoliation is not a part of your skincare routine, then my advice is to start implementing it immediately. Ideally, you should exfoliate dead cells that have accumulated onto your skin at least three times a week. It will help reveal a smoother, more luminous appearance. Using an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) shower gel has done wonders for my skin. That’s because products that contain AHA are designed to slough away dead skin cells and unclog pores.

Load up on face masks

If your skin is looking sallow, you just need to throw on a face mask for an instant glow. Facial masks are available everywhere, from your local beauty supply store to Sephora. There are so many brands on the market, so I’m sure you’ll find one to combat your skin concerns.

Moisturize your skin immediately after taking a shower

You should use a moisturizer on your skin every day, but be especially vigilant during the colder months because winter’s wrath can be harsh on all skin types. Moisturize immediately after shutting off your faucet. This technique helps seal the moisture into your skin by creating a barrier to prevent what dermatologists call “transepidermal water loss” — which is when water passes from the dermis through the epidermis and evaporates from the skin’s surface.

Slather your skin with oil

Applying oil to your skin will give you an instant dewy, youthful glow. You can even use this method on your face. It may sound like you’re setting yourself up for disaster, but hear me out. Facial oils can be a highly beneficial part of your skincare routine because they can help protect your skin from free radicals, seal in moisture and quell irritation.
